A boy swinging on monkey bars
We are aiming to create a Garden Gym on Coed Dylan that not only benefits those who ‘work’ and exercise on Coed Dylan but also helps the environment too.

Our first venture into creating a Garden Gym was using the grant we received from Magic Grants to create Espalier Monkey Bars. We have six fruit trees that were planted to be Espaliered and we thought what better way to make use of that frame then to turn it also into a set of Monkey Bars that the people who visit Coed Dylan can use to help them keep fit and have fun. Our second grant from Magic Grants has been interrupted by Covid 19 and it has made progess slower, and we’ve had to change it slightly. We were hoping to create a Cycling Machine Battery Charger, but we found this was too expensive having already spent a lot of the grant on other aspects of the Cycling Machine – batteries, converters, the machine itself and a shed to house it in. What we have done is just use it as an exercise bike that can be used throughout the year and is another ‘exercise station’ on the site.

Our goal is to create a gym that benefits not only those who use it but also, the environment and the garden, while having a bit of fun! Keep an eye on this space to see what else lies in store for our Garden Gym.
