In this two-part online workshop Sinéad Rushe will give a complete overview of the Michael Chekhov approach to acting, as outlined in her book on the technique.

The course will be structured over two modules, each consisting of six two-hour weekly session broadcast via Zoom from the UK each Saturday. Each session will involve practical work followed by discussion and questions. There will be some preparatory reading between each session (1 hour).

This workshop is for actors, directors, and teachers. We will work on the play text Othello as our source material.

Spaces are limited and will be offered on a first come, first serve basis. Once all places have been filled, we will offer a reserve list.

We are unable to supply free copies of the text. For those that do not have a copy of Sinéad’s book, once course payment has been received, we are able to share a code to get an on-line discount on the purchase of the book.

Biography:

Sinéad Rushe is a theatre director, performer and acting coach. Directing includes AntigoneNOW, a lockdown film created as Granada Artist-in-Residence, UCDavis, USA, selected for Cairo International Festival of Experimental Theatre, School of Sound, Virginia Wadsworth Wirtz Center for the Performing Arts, SPE Media Film Festival; Loaded, Old Rep Birmingham & Choreodrome/The Place Theatre London; Concert, The Pit, Barbican, Baryshnikov Arts Centre, New York & international tour (Gradam Comharcheoil TG4 2018 Award-Winner/Bessie Award Nominee); Night Just Before the Forests, Macau Arts Festival Commission, China; Diary of a Madman, with Living Pictures, Sherman Cymru, Wales & tour; Out of Time, international tour (Olivier & Dance Critic’s Circle Award Nominee). Sinéad is Senior Lecturer in Acting and Movement at Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, London and author of Michael Chekhov’s Acting Technique: A Practitioner's Guide.
